EGFR+ UK’s First LuCE Members’ Meeting
Charlie with Lavinia Magee (LuCE), Debra Montague (ALK+ UK/LuCE) and Yvonne Diaz (Oncogene Research UK)
In October I had the pleasure of representing EGFR Positive UK at our first members’ meeting with Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE). The meeting took place in Madrid and was attended by lots of charities ranging from smaller charities such as EGFR+ UK, ALK+ UK and LCNUK up to and including the equivalent of Cancer Research UK for some other European countries.
The weekend was a fantastic opportunity to network with other charities and organisations and to gain knowledge on how other countries’ lung cancer support and pathways operate compared with the UK.
The sessions were varied and ranged from some information sessions on work LuCE had completed such as the then forthcoming ‘Get Educated’ campaign (released during last month’s Lung Cancer Awareness Month) to breakout discussions that allowed member organisations to share their experiences and ideas on subjects such as how to attract and retain charitable volunteers.
Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE) is the voice for people living with lung cancer and their families at European level. LuCE provides a European platform for lung cancer patient advocacy associations and networks and supports the establishment of national lung cancer patient groups in those European countries where such groups do not yet exist.
The next membership session will take place in Berlin in early April 25 and EGFR+ UK plans to attend.
