Lung Cancer Awareness Month 2024 Update!
What an incredible month November’s Lung Cancer Awareness Month was! We’d like to thank every single person who supported us and shared or viewed our campaign, All You Need Is Lungs 2024. Together, we have made a phenomenal impact, challenging traditional stereotypes and raising awareness that all you need is lungs to get lung cancer.
We’d like to say an extra special thank you to the wonderful volunteers who allowed us to share their stories. Every story is unique and strikes a chord. Every story is relatable; every story counts. Your stories shone a light on the reality of living with a lung cancer diagnosis and gave hope that it is possible to live a full life with this diagnosis.
Often, lung cancer is misdiagnosed, resulting in devastating consequences. We thank our volunteers for raising awareness of the often confusing and diverse symptoms of lung cancer. As you may know, there are many different signs of this illness that sometimes appear unrelated. By sharing your stories, you help healthcare professionals join the dots, see the signs, and ultimately make earlier, life-saving diagnoses.
We are proud that our campaign was widely shared among healthcare professionals and organisations, including BTOG (British Thoracic Oncology Group) and LCNUK (Lung Cancer Nursing UK).
Highlights of Lung Cancer Awareness Month 2024:
Over half a million impressions on our All You Need Is Lungs campaign
Articles in several healthcare professional publications, including Pulse GP, Nursing in Practice, and The Pharmacist
An article in the lifestyle magazine The Stylist
A webinar with nursing and paramedic students at the University of Surrey
If you haven’t had a chance to visit our website and read the stories, please head over to www.allyouneedislungs.org.uk. Each story is an important reminder of why we need to keep talking about and raising the profile of lung cancer. By having these conversations, we heighten awareness and challenge stereotypes that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer.
We’re already thinking about how to build on the successes of this year’s campaign. If you would like to be involved in All You Need Is Lungs 2025, please register your interest below. This is your chance to have your story heard, raise awareness, and make a positive impact to ensure that our vital message is heard: all you need is lungs to get lung cancer.
