‘Yoga for Cancer’ with Vicky Fox
Vicky Fox ‘Yoga for Cancer’
We are thrilled that Vicky Fox will be running a 'Yoga for Cancer' session on Thursday 11th April. Well known in the yoga community, Vicky has her own Yoga for Cancer training centre where she teaches other yoga teachers how to teach yoga to those diagnosed with cancer or long term health conditions.
"Whether you are a long time cancer survivor or currently in treatment, this yoga class focuses on making you feel more grounded and comfortable in your changing or changed body, through the use of postures that safely stretch, strengthen, and relax the body." Vicky Fox
Vicky is passionate about teaching yoga to those who have been diagnosed with cancer or have a long term health condition; she is a strong advocate of how yoga can help the body to nourish and repair after illness. She uses yoga to help her students feel 'empowered and in control at a time when they feel out of control'. Vicky believes that you need to be compassionate and kind to your body; you need to listen to your body and become attuned to it. Her sessions are designed to be sympathetic to the needs of cancer patients and she carefully considers limitations that we may have regarding mobility and pain, and skillfully offers modifications to allow access to all students.
